Enjoyable Experiences and Traditions

As diverse as the historic houses of the Swiss Historic Hotels are, so numerous are the culinary delights in the hotels and their surroundings. We warmly invite you to join us on a journey through Switzerland and to some of our member hotels to discover the culinary delicacies and diverse traditions from the different regions. From wine from the hotel's own vineyard to an edible landscape to the UNESCO World Heritage Site – the variety of experiences for the palate and the eye is impressive.

The Culinary Heritage of the Alps

In the former Capuchin monastery in Stans, the culinary heritage of the Alps takes center stage. In 2020, the Culinarium Alpinum was opened after gentle renovation. In the former refectory, today's restaurant, special emphasis is placed on authentic regional products, complemented by products from the Alpine region. Highlights include the Alpsbrinz cellar, the monastery shop with regional products, and the «Edible Landscape». Here, visitors discover 250 old and new varieties of fruits and berries: tasting is encouraged!

Wine from the Hotel's Own Vineyard

At the Hotel Blume in Baden, a long tradition of viticulture is maintained. The earlier hosts of the hotelier dynasty already pampered their guests with wine from their own cultivation. Today, the excellent «Ammonit» comes from Wettingen, where brothers Silvio and Patrik Erne cultivate three parcels of vineyards with Pinot Noir and Rivaner grapes on top-quality limestone soil. The best way to enjoy this wine is with a delicious meal in the hotel's unique atrium. Alternatively, you also have the option to order the wine directly from the hotel online.

Enjoyable World Heritage

Built in 1829 as a vintner's house, the Hôtel Masson is one of the oldest guesthouses in Montreux. The wonderful hotel garden offers a magnificent view of Lake Geneva and the impressive mountain panorama. The hotel's own restaurant places great emphasis on authentic cuisine. In close proximity are the Lavaux wine terraces, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. This unique landscape encompasses around 10,000 terraces, crisscrossed by paths and including several picturesque wine-growing villages. Especially in autumn, when the landscape shines in golden colors, the region is worth a delightful excursion.

A Toast to the Chestnut

In the lower Bergell, there is one of the largest maintained chestnut forests in Europe. For three weeks in October, the «Festival della Castagna» takes place there. Stay at the Hotel Palazzo Salis and experience the tradition of chestnut harvesting with tours, tastings, and various festivals.

Grisons Dishes

In the historic Veltliner wine tavern of the Hotel Stern in Chur, guests can enjoy excellent Grisons dishes such as Capuns, Maluns, and Pizokels throughout the year. In autumn, the culinary delights are complemented by excellent game dishes. The restaurant's cuisine was again awarded 13 GaultMillau points in October 2023.

Vully Vineyards

In the heart of the Three Lakes Region lies the Château Salavaux, nestled in the picturesque vineyards of Vully. The variety of exquisite wines from the region perfectly complements the restaurant's gastronomic concept, which is entirely based on local and seasonal products.
